“BANG!! I jumped and looked around. There was no-one else in the isle with me. I suddenly felt my heart racing. I could smell the leaking fuel again. I could hear a scream from somewhere. I knew someone got hurt. I saw the bottles of tomato sauce neatly packed in a row on the shelf in front of me. It seemed like all the blood from before, the blood of all of those who got hurt in the accident. I could not figure out where I was. I felt confused…and lost”. This is the story of a young lady who relived the trauma of witnessing a horrible car accident.  While shopping in a grocery store one day, someone knocked over a big crate, and all that her senses registered, was the horrible day she witnessed.  She shared that she tries to cope, some days are better than others.  For her, it felt like being on a trauma coaster – smooth sailing some days, and then suddenly all the twists and turns and up-side-downs on another day.

The following video will discuss the complexity of trauma which can be experienced on different levels and what the aspects are if it is not dealt with in a constructive manner. There are also guidelines to help navigate through the complexity of the trauma coaster.
