The presentation will focus on depression and the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of the disorder.
Each one of these aspects will be discussed in terms of how it can lead to depression and/or perpetuate the illness, but also how it can form part of the treatment plan. Case discussions will be used to explore the treatment modalities.
The presentation will then look at some of the common issues stemming from a spiritual perspective, which may contribute to the stigma surrounding the illness and prevent sufferers from seeking help. Ways in which to manage this stigma in a constructive manner will be explored.
